1. Seiko Men’s Automatic Sport Watch (SKX011J1) – Affordable & Distinct Look

This Seiko is an affordable, distinctive option that’s perfectly suited to anyone who wants a dive watch that stands out from the crowd. Its unique orange face is a refreshing change from the usual navy blue or black options.

We love the combination of a bold and vibrant design with a smaller face size. It makes for a big statement, without being overwhelming.

Although it’s obviously a very distinctive color that won’t appeal to everybody. Even if you love it, chances are it won’t go with every outfit. So, it’s probably best as part of a collection, rather than as an everyday timepiece.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Excellent construction quality
  • Unique colorway stands out
  • Simple easy to read design
  • More casual look than other Seiko’s
  • Slightly smaller, less chunky design

Cons:

  • Color won’t work with every outfit
  • Not quite dressy enough for formal occasions

2. Seiko Blue Dial Automatic Men’s Dive Watch – Best Value

If you’re a fan of Seiko’s quintessential two-tone, Pepsi aesthetic, then we recommend this classic model. It perfectly pairs blue and red without seeming garish and instantly identifies you as a true diver.

It’s also very affordable. You can find this model for around $300, which we think is an absolute bargain. Just like the orange model above, it has an accurate and reliable automatic movement. This is very rare for a dive watch within this price range!

With a 42mm diameter, this watch (and the one above) are slightly smaller than our other recommendations. Which is great if you like a more streamlined model. But if you’re after a bigger, chunkier dive watch, keep reading.

Pros:

  • Great value for money
  • Highly accurate automatic movement
  • Classic & timeless aesthetic
  • Slightly smaller face diameter

Cons:

  • Two-tone colorway may not work with every outfit

3. Seiko Prospex PADI Solar (SNE435P1) – Big And Bold Design

This PADI edition is our affordable recommendation for folks who want to show their dive pride. With a 44mm diameter, this big and bold watch will make a big statement without breaking the bank.

For a special edition with a Japanese quartz movement, it’s remarkedly inexpensive. You can typically find this model for well under $400. Which in collectible territory is an exceptional deal.

Despite it’s size, it’s surprisingly comfortable and feels almost weightless on the wrist. Although the bigger design may not appeal to everyone, the classic design will complement most outfits.

Pros:

  • Excellent value for a special edition model
  • Classic, bold design
  • Solar cell and precise quartz movement
  • Compliments most outfits

Cons:

  • Not quite as elegant as other models
  • Bigger design isn’t for everyone

4. Seiko Prospex Samurai Save The Ocean Diving Watch (SRPC93) – Deep Blue Color

This Samurai model is a stellar midrange Seiko that is absolutely perfect for anyone who loves a deep, rich blue. Inspired by the ocean, the striking color gradient really makes this watch stand out from the crowd.

While it’s distinctive, it’s still a relatively clean and elegant design. Like a more sophisticated alternative to the orange model we’ve recommended above.

Pros:

  • Seriously stunning colorway
  • Highly precise and reliable movement
  • Distinct yet understated style
  • Well constructed and long-lasting.

Cons:

  • Bright blue won’t suit everyone’s tastes
  • Slightly bigger and heavier than most models

5. Seiko Prospex Analog Stainless Steel Japanese Quartz Solar Dive Watch (SSC017) – Most Professional Looking

This Prospex model is an affordable and fun chronograph option for those who like lots of information at a glance. Although there’s a lot of information displayed on the face, it’s still very legible.

The two-tone bezel adds an interesting, distinctive element to the traditionally staid chronograph aesthetic. It’s a big and beautiful dive watch that sits comfortably and looks stunning.  Despite it’s

Pros:

  • Affordable chronograph timepiece
  • Clear design that’s easy to read
  • Big without being clunky
  • Lightweight and comfortable
  • Bright illumination

Cons:

  • Busy design may not appeal to everyone
  • A little pricey than non chronograph options

6. Seiko Black Ion Prospex Automatic Dive Watch (SRPB55) – Classy Black & Gold

When it comes to elegance and style, the Black Ion model from the Seiko Prospex range

This Black Ion model from the Prospex range is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a truly stunning, yet still practical timepiece. It’s one of the few unique color schemes that truly works with any outfit.

It’s very rare to find a reliable dive watch that can incorporate gold without becoming overly flashy. In our humble opinion, the black and gold color scheme is one of the best-looking on the market. We’ve reviewed a ton of dive watches over the years and can confidently say there’s nothing quite like it.

Pros:

  • Elegant and stylish design that looks even better in real life
  • Reliable and highly accurate movement
  • Super clear and easy to read
  • Very reasonably priced
  • High-quality construction

Cons:

  • Black and gold might not be for everyone

7. Seiko Prospex PADI Special Edition (SBDC055)

This model is our top PADI pick, and our overall favourite time piece from Seiko. It perfectly combines Seiko’s vintage aesthetic with a modern colourway to create a distinct yet understated look, without sacrificing practicilaity.

It’s truly one-of-a-kind. There’s nothing else on the market that looks like this! We think it’s the best-looking Seiko, and one of the best-looking dive watches, period. If you’re looking for a unique yet classic design, then this is the best Seiko dive watch for you.

Pros:

  • Solid construction
  • Superbly comfortable
  • Highly precise automatic movement
  • Unique and elegant design
  • Special edition

Cons:

  • A little pricey (but well worth it!)
  • Dark colorway may not suit all styles

8. Seiko Prospex Men’s Diver Watch (SBDC033) – Clean, Simple Look

This Seiko Prospex is our top recommendation for navy lovers who want a dive watch that keeps things clean and classy. It’s simple, elegant, and timeless. At the same time, the navy gradient adds some interest to prevent the design from being boring.

Besides the design, what makes this Seiko dive watch stand out is how well it’s made. It looks and feels far more expensive than it actually is. Definitely one of the classiest timepieces for under $1,000.

At 45mm, it’s the biggest Seiko dive watch on our list. So if you have small wrists or prefer a less obtrusive look then this isn’t the model for you.

Pros:

  • Clean and classy design
  • Exceptionally well made
  • High-end quality without a high-end price
  • Durable and long-lasting

Cons:

  • Can look a little big on smaller wrists
CHECK CURRENT PRICE

9. Seiko Men’s Prospex Automatic Dive Watch (SRP639K1) – Technical Look With Tanklike Build

If you’re looking for a rugged, technical-looking dive watch then this is the ideal Seiko model for you. It’s a slightly smaller, more affordable take on the company’s sought-after “tuna can” timepiece we’ve reviewed below.  It’s the cheapest shrouded Seiko we recommend and an excellent balance of functionality and style.

At over 46mm and chunky, this Seiko dive watch certainly makes a big statement. Both with its size and distinctly strong markings it’ll definitely attract some attention. The two-tone bezel injects a little fun into an otherwise serious dive watch.

Pros:

  • Rugged and durable
  • Seriously solid construction
  • Strong, bold design
  • Reasonably priced

Cons:

  • A little heavier than other models
  • Chunky design isn’t for everyone
CHECK CURRENT PRICE

10. Seiko Prospex Marinemaster (SBBN033) – Most Rugged & Deepest Water Resistance

Our final recommendation from Seiko is the legendary “tuna can!” It’s a massive, technical model for those who want the ultimate in water-resistance and build quality. It’s arguably the most well-known and sought after models worldwide. If you’re looking for a serious dive watch then this is the model for you.

It’s more rugged than any other dive watches sold today. It’s waterproof to 300m and built like an absolute tank. Even the pricier models we’ve reviewed don’t beat it for sheer construction quality and durability. As far as we’re concerned, this is the most badass dive watch on the market!

However, as you can probably see, it’s not terribly elegant. Few wrists can truly pull off the enormous ‘tuna can’ style design.

Pros:

  • Highly collectible
  • Incredibly rugged construction
  • Will last you a lifetime
  • Simple to use and read in all conditions
  • Highly precise timekeeping

Cons:

  • Very expensive
  • Huge and chunky
  • Not very stylish

Which of these Seiko dive watches is the best choice for you?

Best Overall: Prospex PADI Special Edition

Overall, our number one choice for the best Seiko dive watch has to be the Seiko Prospex PADI Special Edition SBDC055. It’s reliable, well built, and looks truly exceptional. With a unique twist on the classic dive watch aesthetic, it looks great both up close and at a distance.

Best Stand Out Design: Seiko Men’s Automatic Sport Watch (SKX011J1)

This orange-faced Sport model is the best bet for someone who’s looking for a standout dive watch that’s unlike anything else on offer. In a world of understated blacks and navy blues, this is a signature timepiece if you’re looking to make a strong statement of individuality. Obviously, it’s not the best choice for the boardroom or for matching all outfits.

Best Classic Two-Tone Look: Seiko Blue Dial Automatic Men’s Dive Watch

The model we looked at next is a perfect choice for anyone who likes the classic two-tone blue and red dive watch aesthetic. It’s distinctive and bold without being tacky or garish.

Best Budget Collectable: Prospex PADI Solar

This our suggestion for anyone who wants a PADI-edition Seiko without dropping $750+ for the pricier versions. It’s accurate, practical, and instantly recognizable as a true diver’s dive watch. It’s midsized, comfortable for most wearers, and very affordable.

Best Chronograph: Prospex SSC017

The Prospex SCC017 packs a lot of information into a design that’s still quite legible. It’s a nice midpoint between the funky two-tone aesthetic of many classic dive watches and the more understated aesthetic of most chronographs. However, it doesn’t have the prestige of an automatic movement.

Most Classy Design: Black Ion Prospex Dive Watch

This model is an excellent, distinctive choice for those who like a touch of luxury. Its classy blend of gold and black elements, plus the textured face, are quite unique. It oozes elegance! Gold certainly isn’t for everyone, though.

Best Clean and Simple Design: Seiko Prospex SBDC033

The all-navy Seiko Prospex model is less saturated than the faces on the Save The Oceans or the  PADI editions, while still maintaining a rich, deep color. We love the simplicity of the design. Get this if you like something clean and simple.

Most Practical: Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Professional Dive Watch

Finally, the Marinemaster, aka the prestigious Seiko Tuna Can,  is our ultimate recommendation for those who are after sheer practicality. It’s quite expensive and fairly technical in appearance, but it’s indestructible and rated to 300m. What more could an ambitious diver want from a watch?

How To Choose The Best Seiko Dive Watch

With so many high-quality and beautifully crafted models, we understand that choosing the best Seiko dive watch isn’t easy. So here are a few pointers to help you choose between the right Seiko dive watch for you:

Decide On Your Budget

Seiko dive watches generally range from $200 to $1000. You can occasionally find some of the budget models for slightly less, but this is usually when there’s a sale. So decide how much you want to spend and how much you can afford to spend.

Thankfully, with a watchmaker like Seiko, even the least expensive models are still well-built dive watches that will last for many years and still look great. However, if you’re looking for an heirloom-type dive watch, you should probably think about spending a little more for something made from premium materials with a top-notch fit and finish.

Likewise, all the timepieces in this guide are water-resistant to at least 200m. Which is more than enough for the majority of recreational and professional divers. But if you need even more of a depth rating, you’ll have to spend more money.

The great thing about Seiko watches is you can typically find your dream model for around $500. There are some special editions and pro versions that cost more, but the vast majority of buyers will be able to find everything they need and want from a dive watch for half a grand or less!

Consider Your Own Preferences

Dive watches, just like any other accessories you wear, are highly personal items. They should fit well with your body, your lifestyle, and your own aesthetic tastes.

With that in mind, imagine your perfect dive watch! What colors do you find most alluring? Classic blue and red, or an understated black and silver? Do you prefer a simple, elegant look, or something like a chronograph that’s packed with information? Are you after a big, bold statement piece or something that’s sleek enough to wear every day?

While things like build quality, accuracy, and durability are easy to assess objectively, choosing between the models in this guide is largely a matter of taste. All the Seiko models we’ve recommended above are excellent timepieces. It’s simply your task to figure out the one that suits you best!

Remember, It’s Not All Or Nothing

While you certainly want to set out to find your perfect timepiece, it’s important to remember that most aficionados keep a couple of different dive watches in their collection.

The best thing about Seiko is that you don’t have to choose just one. You can easily pick two or three different models without spending nearly as much as you would on a single Rolex!
